What a business card QR code does

The code stores an electronic contact card (vCard). When someone scans it, the phone offers “Add to contacts” with your name, phone, email, company and website already filled in. Nobody retypes your number or gets a digit wrong.

What to fill in

  • First and last name as you want to appear in their contacts.
  • Phone number with the country code (+1, +44, +49…), so it works internationally.
  • Email and website if they are on your card.
  • Company and job title are optional.

Every field makes the code denser. For a small paper card, include only what matters most.

Size and printing

On a standard business card the code should be at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in). Print shops usually want a vector file (PDF, SVG or EPS) for perfectly sharp edges. Here they are free, just pick the format under the preview. For a home printer, a 1000 px PNG is enough.

If your phone number changes, you need a new code, because the data is stored in the code itself.
