A text message, ready to send
When scanned, the phone opens a new text message with the number and text already filled in. People just tap “Send”. It works on iPhone and Android.
What it is good for
- Contests and giveaways: “Text CODE123 to enter”.
- Appointments: “I'd like to book…” is prefilled, the customer adds the day.
- Feedback: a quick 1 to 5 rating straight by SMS.
- Reporting issues: a sign in a building or on a site with the maintenance number prefilled.
Good to know
An SMS code never sends anything by itself. The person always sees the text and decides whether to send it. They pay their normal carrier rate, so do not use premium short codes without saying so clearly next to the code.
Keep the text short. Messages over 160 characters (70 with non-Latin characters or emoji) are split into several parts.
